Sustainable Practices in Dorm Design

The beginning and end of the school year can create a lot of waste. Students tend to throw away or get rid of perfectly good pieces of furniture or organizational items simply because they can’t take it home with them. If you are a student at Wesleyan who cares about reducing the buildup of waste, I encourage you to check out Freecycle – a Wesleyan specific email program that facilitates interaction between students looking to get rid of or acquire specific items. You can also explore WesMarketplace: an online location to buy, sell, rent, exchange, and donate. There is so much you can do to practice being environmentally conscious and sustainable while designing your perfect dorm room. If you’re planning on buying or getting rid of something – try these two Wesleyan websites before just purchasing or throwing things in the trash!
